anyone out there have connections within the dead family and if so can you fill me in on this guy Stu Nixon? I threw in a a compilation of GD interviews and stories done by NBC over the years. They ran them together the weekend after Garcia died on MSNBC. 2 stories featured the angle "dead heads are regular people too." And in both stories in 2 different years they interview this guy Stu Nixon who is genetic engineeer or something. then I look at the liner notes from View from the vault 3 and it's written by him. Was he a shill or paid employee by the dead planted by the band to do interviews? Just curious

He figures in pretty heavy with Deadbase, too. Just checked - he's co-author, along with John W. Scott and Mike Dolgushkin. No other info have I.

I could be Dead wrong, but I used to hang with a Stu Nixon back around 1971-73. He was with me and a few others for the March 1972 Academy of Music run. Avid taper--well, trader at least, from Long Island. Mutual friends were Wayne and Cheryl Eichen.

If it's the same Stu Nixon, he was a good guy to hang around with. Always a Dead cassette playing in his ride.

Googleing him does not solve the mystery.

he's just a fan of the dead with a huge collection of shows, with lots of reviews in deadbase which he and a couple of other guys started.his reviews have been used for linear notes on some dead shows.

Indeedee:

A quick email reveals that he is one and the same as the guy I knew. Not a shill. Just a good old Dead Head with 35 or so years of listening.
